Eddie Hearn has backed Ryan Garcia to upset the odds and stop Gervonta Davis in their super fight later this month.

Davis and Garcia clash in one of the most highly-anticipated fights of the year at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 22, live on SHOWTIME pay-per-view in the USA and DAZN in the UK.

Garcia heads into the showdown as the betting underdog, however Hearn, who initially sided with ‘Tank’ has changed his prediction and believes Garcia will knockout the Baltimore man.

“I think Tank is favourite in the fight,” Hearn told Fight Hub TV.

“But I give Ryan Garcia a lot more chance than I did originally and that’s because having spoken to fighters, especially young fighters who know them both, they give Ryan Garcia a chance, some pick him to win that fight.

“I think he punches very hard and ‘Tank’ does get hit, but Ryan is also exposed when he’s throwing and ‘Tank’ is very smart.

“So I do think ‘Tank’ is the favourite in that fight, but I’m going to pick Ryan Garcia by stoppage weirdly and ‘Tank’ is one of my favourite fighters, but just something in my head says Ryan might pull off something special that night.”

Three-weight world champion, Davis is undefeated in 28 professional fights and warmed up for his rival with a ninth round stoppage win over Hector Luis Garcia in January to take his win percentage by knockout up to almost 93%.

Garcia, who is also unbeaten, has stopped 19 of his 23 opponents, the last a sixth round rout of Javier Fortuna in July.

The Californian vowed to add ‘Tank’ to his tally during a press conference in Los Angeles last month.

“‘Tank’ likes to fight guys that don’t hit hard, but I hit hard,” the 24-year-old said.

“When I hit you with that left hook, you’re gonna be on the floor. Asleep. Good night.

“You’re going to wake up in the hospital.”
