Michael Perez headlines in Bayamon, PR on April 28

Michael Angelo ‘The Artist’ Perez ( 19-1-2 , 10 KO’s ) of Newark, New Jersey and Puerto Rican descendant, will be in the feature bout on Monday, April 28 at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, as part of an event promoted by ‘Golden Boy Promotions’ in association with ‘PR Best Boxing Promotions’.

The event is set to be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes as part of the series ‘Golden Boy Live!’, starting at 9:00 pm ( ET ).

Perez, ranked #10 by the WBA, will defend his title against Mexican, Jorge ‘Koky’ Romero ( 24-7, 21 KO’s ) in a scheduled 10-round bout.

“The reception have always been amazing in Puerto Rico. I always represent my boricua people, and my people of New Jersey with all my heart and pride. On April, 28th, I guarantee a fan friendly fight, a real war, I just hope my opponent comes well prepared as he always do, so everyone can enjoy a great fight”, said Perez, who trains at the ‘Elite Heat Boxing Gym’ in New Jersey, under the tutelage of Anthony Carr, and strength and conditioning coach, Pat Carozza.

In his last bout in September, ‘The Artist’ captured the vacant WBA Fedelatin belt by defeating Mexican, Miguel ‘Dinamita’ Zuñiga by unanimous decision.

Other notables victories by ‘The Artist’ included, a second round TKO victory over Eric Cruz, who haven’t been knocked out in 4 years, and over prospects, Fidel Maldonado, and Fernando Carcamo, both wins by decision, in bloody matches.

In the co-feature bout, McJoe Arroyo ( 13-0, 7 KO’s ) of Fajardo, will face David Quijano ( 15-4-1 , 9 KO’s ) of Caguas in a eight rounds bantamweight bout. Jayson ‘La Maravilla’ Velez ( 21-0, 15 KO’s ) of Juncos will battle Miguel ‘Mikito’ Soto ( 12-2, 12 KO’s ) of Arecibo in a 10 rounds featherweight bout, among others fights.
