Schofield vs Bahdi results: In a dramatic contest at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Floyd Schofield claimed the WBA lightweight title, but he had to get off the deck to take a points win against Lucas Bahdi. Check out the Schofield vs Bahdi report below.
Both arrived unbeaten in Illinois. Schofield (20-0, 13 KOs) came off a first-round knockout win against the faded former world champion Tevin Farmer. Meanwhile, Bahdi (20-1, KO15) outscored Roger Gutierrez in his most recent outing last August.
The pair were fighting for the title Gervonta Davis was stripped of in January.
Schofield began well, especially with his right hand. His jab proved a potent weapon towards the end of the opening frame.
Bahdi landed with rights of his own in the second, but then found himself on the canvas a round later. A counter left hand did the damage after the Canadian was hurt several times during the third.
The pair traded big shots in the fourth, however Schofield was on top, getting the better of the exchanges.
Schofield rallies after knockdown to beat Bahdi

Despite this, the tide turned in the sixth. Bahdi landed with a huge right hand. Schofield ate two more of those shots and his legs visibly wobbled.
‘Kid Austin’ rallied though to hurt Bahdi with a left hook in what was an absorbing session.
Bahdi had a case for a knockdown in round nine. A cuffing right landed and Schofield’s knee seemed to touch the canvas.

He did score a knockdown in the penultimate round though, as an innocuous right hand saw Schofield hit the deck.
That one didn’t look like a knockdown, but it was counted as one, and Schofield eased to the finish line by using his boxing skills, as the bout went to the cards.
Scores of 119-108, 116-110 and 115-111 saw Schofield crowned the new champion.
Mendoza stuns Sandoval, Rivera victorious
There was an upset on the undercard, as Sergio Mendoza (28-1, 24 KOs) ripped the WBC and WBA flyweight titles from Ricardo Sandoval (27-3, 18 KOs) with a fifth round stoppage.
Mendoza dropped Sandoval twice in the second round, and finished the job in the fifth, after decking Sandoval for a third time.

Elsewhere on the Schofield vs Bahdi report, Jan-Paul Rivera Pizarro (17-0, 7 KOs) stayed unbeaten. The Puerto Rican took a wide points win, 99-89 on all three cards over 10 rounds against Abraham Perfecto Valdez (14-3, 9 KOs) at super featherweight.
