With the fight media already assembled in New York for the massive Miguel Cotto vs. Sergio Martinez fight at Madison Square Garden, the official opening press conference for a recently announced match, Gennady Golovkin vs. Daniel Geale, was held on Saturday afternoon before Cotto-Martinez.
And it makes even more sense, because Golovkin vs. Geale will take place at Madison Square Garden as well. While Cotto is the preeminent attraction in the sport in New York City, Golovkin has been making MSG a home as well.
Of course, suddenly Cotto and Golovkin are both titleholders in the same division, and could be potential opponents in what would be a massive fight and spectacle. In the meantime though, you can check out the video for the Golovkin vs. Geale press conference.
Also announced as the co-feature will be a match of unbeaten heavyweights, Bryant Jennings vs. Mike Perez. Jennings vs. Perez had been previously scheduled, but canceled, when a different scheduled event had to be put to the wayside.
