Main Events is proud to announce Virgilijus “The Terminator” Stapulionis (18-3-1, 13 KOs) will face Patrick Day (12-2-1, 6 KOs) in the main event of the premiere of Mohegan Sun’s Rising Stars Boxing Series on Nov. 26 at the Uncas Ballroom at Mohegan Sun Casino Resort in Uncasville, Connecticut in a ten-round junior middleweight battle.

Stapulionis, 30, is originally from Pasvalys, Lithuania but came to the United States last year when he signed with world-renowned manager, Egis Klimas. He made his US debut on Dec. 3, 2015 with a second round TKO over Cesar Vila in Costa Mesa, California. After he stopped Laszlo Fazekas of Hungary on the Kovalev-Pascal II undercard in Montreal, Quebec Canada earlier this year, he signed a promotional contract with Main Events. In his most recent bout, Virgilijus defeated previously-undefeated Nathaniel Gallimore in a ten-round split decision in El Monte, California. This fight with Day will be his first on the east coast of the US.

Day, 24, of Freeport, New York made his professional debut back in 2013 after a stellar amateur career. He was a US National Champion in 2012 and a New York Golden Glove Champion. He remained undefeated through his first ten professional bouts (one draw against Urmat Ryskeldiev in Brooklyn). In his most recent fight, he defeated Courtney Pennington via unanimous decision in Huntington, New York.

When asked about the fight Stapulionis said, “I am so excited to headline my first show since coming to America last year. I hope the fans will enjoy my fight and I promise to bring them a good show. Thanks to Main Events, Mohegan Sun and my manager, Egis Klimas, for this great opportunity.”

Virgilijus is managed by Egis Klimas, who also manages WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion and Main Events’ stablemate Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev. Klimas added, “‘The Terminator’ is a very exciting and aggressive fighter. Mohegan Sun has been the site of some great historic boxing events and I think, by the end of the night, Stapulionis will have gained many new fans in Connecticut.”

According to Day, “I am really looking forward to this fight. This is the hardest I have ever trained and I am viewing it as my chance at redemption. Style-wise I like this fight, regardless of his advantage in experience. I will be ready for whatever he brings to the table. In the past, I have taken victory for granted because I was a prospect and was favored to win. My shortcomings have taught me to take nothing in life for granted. I am going to earn my victory on November 26.”

Day has been managed and trained by Joe Higgins his entire amateur and professional careers. According to Higgins, “We are very excited Main Events has given us this opportunity. We have worked with Main Events before and they have always treated us fairly. Patrick has transitioned into a seasoned and determined fighter and we hope to impress everyone on Nov. 26.”

Main Events’ CEO Kathy Duva added, “This is a perfect main event to kick off our new series at Mohegan Sun. The fans in attendance will really enjoy this fight and get to see what Rising Stars is all about.”
