Women’s champ Amanda Serrano defends title tonight

Professional Boxing returns this Saturday night to the Resorts World Casino New York City as New Legend Boxing, Old World Boxing & W.O.N Promotions present another great night of boxing featuring a host of  local prospects from the New York metropolitan area.

In the main event, current UBF world champion, Amanda Serrano will take on Dominga Oliva in a six round Women’s Featherweight bout.  Serrano of Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York has an outstanding mark of 17-1-1 with 12 wins coming by way of knockout.  Serrano began her career with a 12-0-1 record, which included big wins over undefeated Christina Ruiz and Nydia Feliciano, as well as capturing the NABF with a 1st round knockout over Jennifer Scott.  Serrano also captured the IBF Featherweight title with a 2nd round stoppage over Kimberly Connor.  After suffering her only defeat to undefeated Frida Wallberg in Wallberg’s home country of Sweden, Serrano bounced back, notching another three consecutive 1st round knockouts with the latest being on February 16th over Wanda Pena Ozuna in the Dominican Republic.

Amanda Serrano and her sister Cindy, who hail from Puerto Rico, recently graced the cover of LatinTRENDS magazine’s June 2013 edition. The Serrano’s are the only known pair of sisters, professional women boxers, who are still fighting and ranked in the top ten of the IBF, WBC and WBA.

Dominga Oliva of Brooklyn, New York has a record of 8-7-1.  Oliva is a highly experienced boxer who is a three time Golden Gloves and National Champion in the United States.  Oliva has challenged for the WBC Featherweight title and fought to a disputed draw with highly regarded Jelena Mrdjenovich in Mrdjenovich’s hometown of Edmonton.  Oliva has wins over undefeated Tiffany Junot, Denise Moses and Ana Julaton.  Oliva is coming off a seventh round technical decision to Ji-Hye Woo on April 9, 2011 in South Korea.

The undercard will consist of four round bouts as follows:

Gary Beriguette of Ozone Park, NY will make his pro-debut against Carlos Nieves (0-4) of Bronx, NY.

In a Jr. Middleweight bout, the popular Patrick Day (3-0, 2 KO’s) of Freeport, Long Island will box Carl Hill (1-4) of Compton, CA.

Shawn Cameron (5-0, 3 KO’s) of Brooklyn, NY will fight Dominique Foster (2-2-1) of Hilliard, Ohio in a Middleweight contest.

Jay Rodriguez (0-0-1) of Queens, NY battles Kenneth Rosser (0-2) of Philadelphia, PA in a Cruiserweight battle.

Bryant Cruz (4-0, 4 KO’s) of Port Chester, NY squares off with Tomi Archambault (1-4, 1 KO) of Bismark, ND in a Jr. Lightweight bout.

Marcus Beckford (0-0-2) of Uniondale, Long Island takes on Gustavo Medina (1-5-1) of Eloy, Arizona in a Middleweight bout.

Ryan Ramaya (1-0-1, 1 KO) of Jamaica, Queens, NY will take on Angel Siguenza of Queens, NY in Super Bantamweight affair.
