Chris Brown vs. Drake celebrity boxing showdown

According to various reports, a new celebrity boxing showdown could be headed our way in the near future: Chris Brown vs. Drake. Let’s call it Rihanna’s Rumble. Or better yet, let’s call it the crazy boxing money grab of the day.

Damon Feldman, owner of Celebrity Boxing (you can follow him on Twitter) was planning to entice the two entertainers turned backroom brawlers with $1 million each to step into the ring for a boxing match. It wouldn’t be anything too taxing – just three 1-minute rounds, with the bout being made available via pay-per-view, and likely via online streaming.

A press conference was to held on Friday afternoon, apparently, to further discuss the Drake vs. Chris Brown boxing match, or to officially announce it as taking place. No word as of yet whether this is going to come off – but wouldn’t you fight just about anybody in the world for $1 million, for three minutes of action in the ring?

Updated July 2 – With neither man biting on the original offer, a new offer has been made, with a staggering reported total purse of $10 million, including $9 million to the winner.

Feldman even wanted to get Rihanna as a ring card girl – although that’s just being even more ridiculous.

Ultimately, we normally don’t provide any coverage on “Celebrity Boxing” or anything of the sort. The professional fight game has enough problems as it is without these sideshows, to be honest. But hey, Chris Brown vs. Drake could at least be somewhat interesting to watch, and who wouldn’t want to see Chris Brown catching a beating?

It’s also not the first crossing of the sports world stemming from the Chris Brown and Drake battle royale in the club. Spurs player Tony Parker is reportedly suing club owners $20 million for damage to his eye due to negligent security from the fight between those two groups.

We’ll let you know later whether the Chris Brown vs. Drake boxing match is legit. In the meantime, occupy yourself with all of the absurd boxing news you need from the “legitimate” side of the sport – The Top 10 Terrible Boxing Tales of 2012.
