Boxing insiders have finally revealed the Fury vs Joshua Cardiff date, with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua set to headline their long-awaited heavyweight showdown at the Principality Stadium
Fury and Joshua have signed to fight each other. However, a row over the location for their mega bout has caused a hold-up.
Despite this, the drawn out saga appears to be reaching a conclusion.
According to boxing insider, Dan Rafael the pair will fight on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, provided authorities approve the permits, with organisers keen for the fight to take place in the early hours.
Joshua signed to fight Fury in the UK, per his promoter Eddie Hearn. However, Saudi Arabia’s Sela and Netflix – who will air the bout – had been pushing for the bout to move to Madison Square Garden in New York.
Fury vs Joshua date – What caused the delay
Despite pressure from organisers and Dana White, Hearn remained firm on holding the bout in the UK. White had claimed to have organised the venue and TV deal.
Last month, the Matchroom Chairman sent an addendum to Sela. It outlined the changes for a potential move to America. But Hearn says Joshua ultimately decided to fight his long-time rival on home soil.
Hearn told IFLTV: “We were put in a position where Anthony Joshua was offered a new deal to fight in America versus the deal he had already signed to fight in the UK.
“Last week we had additional people coming around the back.
“Trying to offer him more money. And I had to go to AJ and have a very honest conversation and say, ‘what do you want to do?’
“He never even wanted to send a new addendum, but we were put under that much pressure.
“He’d also seen the response from the British public and it makes you fight that little bit harder.

“And he turned around to me, with the two offers on the table and said ‘No.
“‘I just want to stick to the original contract. I want to do this fight in the UK.’
“The fight will not be taking place in America, because Anthony Joshua is not a sellout.
“Anthony Joshua could have taken many millions more to do the fight in America and it was totally on him.”
