Klitschko vs. Chisora Round by Round Updates

4:35 pm – The EPIX broadcast of Klitschko-Chisora is underway. There’s going to be a slight delay, apparently, as Chisora is trying to pull some gamesmanship. And so, Chris Mannix is interviewing David Haye, the least credible guy in the world to say anything about fighting or facing the Klitschko brothers. Hey, David Haye – STFU. You wasted your chance.

4:50 pm – Still waiting here. Apparently Chisora almost got into a brawl with Wladimir Klitschko while his hands were getting wrapped, and then threatened to back out of the fight. Klitschko says Chisora’s camp wasn’t wrapping their hands properly, and he had to call them out on yet.

Now being told the ring walks won’t even begin until 5:10 pm. What a joke, c’mon guys.

5:15 pm – And, freaking finally, the ring walks are about to begin. 45 minutes after the initial broadcast time. Really terrible stuff here.

5:20 pm – OK, fighters in the ring. Chisora came out to LL Cool J, Vitali to his Hell’s Bells by AC/DC. Finally fight time in just a bit, folks.

Rd 1: Right before the fight begins, we see that Chisora spit water at Wladimir in the ring. He has now officially crossed over the line to classless. Lucky he didn’t get popped – and then didn’t get paid – right there. Vitail opens up and throws a big right early. Chisora using lots of motion and fakes. Chisora lands an overhand right. Klitschko working behind his jab and  keeping his hands held low. Klitchko lands another right, then stares down Chisora at the bell.

Rd 2: Chisora storms out and throws a few jabs. Both guys swing wildly and miss big shots. Klitschko lands a right then backs away out of distance. Vitali lands an uppercut, and a body shot. Chisora looking to find a home for big hooks. Klitschko with a nice jab, looks for a chopping right hand. Another Klitschko round.

Rd 3: Vitali continuing to look for that right. The two get close and clinch a few times. Chisora trying to work his way inside. Chisora lands a left hook as he jumps in. Vitali lands a few big shots, as Chisora continues coming forward. Vitali using a lot of movement, Chisora pressuring but not landing much.

Rd 4: Chisora not as overly aggressive or active as he was very early on. Still pressuring and working, but Vitali controlling distance and pace more to his liking. After that, Chisora does some nice bobbing and weaving but didn’t connect with any shots. Vitali lands a big right hand counter after Chisora got himself out of position. Loads up with another big right. Lands another one before the bell.

Rd 5: Chisora keeping his hands high and tight in front of his face as he walks forward. His activity is down though. Works his way inside and they clinch, and Chisora bulls him a little bit. Vitali’s offense not as effective this round. Even though Chisora didn’t do great work, he is doing a good job of tiring Klitschko out a bit, by appearance.

Rd 6: Vitali landing nice rights, but Chisora answering each one with his own right hand. Each landing some good shots here. Chisora swinging big with his counters. Lands a very big right, taking advantage of Klitschko’s low hands. Klitschko jabs, Chisora with a nice hook to the body. More good body work for Chisora. His round.

Rd 7: Chisora comes out fast and furious to the start of the round here, and he’s landing. He’s landing some powerful rights and hooks, and still bulling his way inside and forcing some clinches. Vitali certainly looking more tired here. Chisora though has picked up his pace once again, and is finding a home for some shots. Klitschko rallies with some clean combinations over the past 45 seconds of the round, but this was another round to Del Boy.

Rd 8: Chisora comes out quick once again. Klitschko using his jab more here to keep Chisora at bay. Chisora to the body, Klitschko counters with a jab, Chisora goes right back to the body. Those shots have definitely taken some steam off Vitali. He’s getting inside, and digging to the body. Then lands a leaping left hook. Chisora making it rough, and forcing the action. Another round for Chisora, that’s 3 straight and makes it a close fight through 8.

Rd 9: Klitschko going back to the jab, when Chisora gets in, he ties him up or pushes off. Vitali lands a right upstairs, Chisora lands back to the body. Klitschko looking for an uppercut. Not throwing punches nearly as hard as he was earlier. Chisora doing a lot of  feinting here, but not a lot of throwing. Maybe taking the round off to try to make a rally again in round 10. Klitschko lands a few big rights in the last seconds of the round, round 9 to Vitali.

Rd 10: Chisora back into stalking mode here a bit. He’s swinging wildly, but Klitschko takes advantage of it by sending a straight right down the pipe. Vitali pushes him away to create some distance, then opens up with a combination. Chisora getting inside but not doing effective work right now. Lots of clinching here in round 10. They each land a nice shot before the bell, Klitschko’s round.

Rd 11: Chisora trying to come forward but not as strongly or actively as he was earlier. More walking forward, then laying around on the inside or bobbing and head feinting without throwing effectively. With Chisora slowing, Vitali is finding a home for that powerful right hand. One right seems to have tagged Chisora pretty well. He lands a few others over the next minute too. Chisora swings recklessly and Vitali throws a counter right through it.

Rd 12: Final stanza here, and it looks like this one will make it to the scorecards. Chisora still coming forward and winding up with some big shots. Tries to sneak in a low blow too. Klitschko definitely tired, and playing a bit of keepaway. He’s pushing Chisora off and there’s lots of clinching once they’re close. Chisora coming forward, coming forward, but there’s not much to his game right now. Jumping in with his shots, and Klitschko takes the opportunity to light him up. Chisora throws a few big hooks as the bell rings and the fight comes to a close.

The ProBoxing-Fans.com scorecard is 9 rounds to 3 for Klitschko, 117-111.

Judges scorecards read: 118-110, 118-110 and 119-111 for Vitali Klitschko.
