Jaron Ennis has warned Sebastian Fundora ahead of a potential unification after signing an extension with Eddie Hearn.
This comes after Fundora set up a potential clash with Ennis by stopping Ermal Hadribeaj in the final seconds to retain his WBC super welterweight world title on Saturday.
Ennis – the unified WBO and WBA champion – will first face IBF titlist, Josh Kelly. Eddie Hearn, who promotes both men, said the fight will take place in January or February.
However, Fundora struggled at times against Hadribeaj, which led to many now believing that Ennis would stop him if they fought.
Despite this, the Florida man remains firm in his belief that he would emerge victorious by knockout.
Jaron Ennis responds to Sebastian Fundora
In response, ‘Boots’ told YSM Sports Media: “I wanted him to look good.
“Because after I handle business with Josh Kelly, then that’s my potential next opponent.
“I want anybody I fight to look good before they fight me, because I don’t want to hear any excuses.
“It was a solid performance. He got the win.
“We’re not looking past Josh Kelly at all. Sharp fighter. Smart fighter. We’re going to come back with that IBF belt.”
Ennis then joked about the 6 ft 5 in Fundora saying: “He’s too small. He’s not big enough.”
Before adding: “I will fold him up.
“But we’re focused on Josh Kelly. That’s the main focus. Main target right now. We’ll talk about him later on. I ain’t worried about nothing he’s talking about.”
Ennis extends Eddie Hearn deal
On Tuesday, Ennis signed a multi-year extension on his contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom.
So far, Jaron Ennis has already had five fights under Eddie Hearn, including three homecomings in his native Philadelphia.
According to Matchroom, ‘Boots’ has signed a seven-fight deal.
Speaking after the signing, he said: “I’m excited for my extended partnership with Matchroom. “Together we have aligned ourselves in all the right positions to get what I want, and that’s undisputed!
“The world is about to see why I’m different and why I’m the best fighter in the world! These guys aren’t on my level!
“They can’t do what I do! Road to undisputed! Road to the number one pound-for-pound best fighter in the world!”
