Tyson Fury has hailed Daniel Dubois as potentially the best heavyweight in the world following his brutal win over Fabio Wardley.

Dubois demolished Wardley in two rounds of their rematch to retain his WBO heavyweight world title at the O2 Arena on Saturday.

Wardley knocked the Londoner down twice in their first outing in May, before succumbing to a 11th round stoppage defeat.

However, the former champion had no such success this time around. Dubois controlled the bout from the opening bell dropping Wardley in the first round.

His trainer Ben Davison threw in the towel as the clinical Dubois overwhelmed him.

Fury, who is in training camp in Miami for his long-awaited clash with Anthony Joshua on December 11, has lauded Dubois as the man to beat.

“Daniel Dubois just went straight to him and set about him,” he said in a video on Instagram.

“Wardley likes to throw hooks and Daniel threw straights and straights always gets there first before hooks.

“Fair play to [Dubois’ trainer] Don Charles and the rest of the guys in the corner. They did a fantastic job.

“Good work by Ben Davison throwing the towel in. Last time, he took too much punishment for my liking. It should have been thrown in earlier.

“Daniel has done absolutely fantastic in his career.

“I believe he is one of the best if not the best heavyweight on the scene at the moment.

“Young at 29-years-old, fresh and he just seems to be getting better which is a testament to his trainer Don Charles and himself and his father and everybody else who is involved.”

Could we see Fury vs Dubois?

If Fury defeats Joshua at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, he will become the WBA ‘super’ heavyweight world champion.

As a result, this would set up a potentially mouthwatering unification bout between Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois, who stopped ‘AJ’ in five rounds in 2024.

The pair are both with promoter Frank Warren and the 29-year-old admits he would relish a clash with the two-time heavyweight world champion.

“Definitely. That’ll be ground-breaking. That’ll be the next level for me,” he told Sky Sports.

“I’ve fought everyone then really from this era. I’ve fought them all. Fury’s the last one.

“Fury’s a fighting man, I’m sure he would want it. Let’s see how he does with AJ. Let’s see. I’m sure Frank [Warren] would love to make that fight.”

Warren has revealed Dubois will return in February and boxing fans will hope he can make Fury vs Dubois in 2027.
