Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, is pleased to announce that Top Rank has signed an agreement with Manny Pacquiao and MP Promotions extending their promotional agreement through December 31, 2016.

“We are pleased that together with our partners at HBO we will continue presenting to the public fights of the great Manny Pacquiao through the end of 2016,” Arum said.

“The partnership among Manny, Top Rank, MP Promotions and HBO has been a wonderful one for all parties and for the public and it’s great that is will continue for the years to come,” Arum said.

With the deal lasting through the end of 2016, another two and a half years, that likely keeps Pacquiao with Top Rank for the rest of his professional career. It also may be the last nail in the coffin for any lingering hope of ever seeing Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao.

Some had hoped Pacquiao would leave Top Rank at the end of this contract, freeing him to potentially meet Mayweather. However, Mayweather and Arum remains essentially a no-go situation.

One small bright side is that Oscar De La Hoya is trying to reopen the doors for Golden Boy and Top Rank to work with one another. Still, it would seem that Mayweather is obviously more aligned with the Richard Schaefer and Al Haymon side of GBP, than the De La Hoya side, which cancels out that benefit.
