Callum Simpson has opened up on his win over Troy Williamson and spoken about a possible clash with Hamzah Sheeraz.
Simpson reclaimed his Commonwealth and British super middlweight titles against Williamson and believes Sheeraz could be the ideal route to world honours.
Simpson and ‘The Trojan’ faced off in December, with Williamson causing the upset by stopping the Barnsley-based fighter in the 10th.

The pair would immediately rematch eight months on, and Simpson spoke to talkSPORT about some of the criticism he heard in the lead-up to the rematch.
“After that first fight, a lot of people wrote me off. They tried to say it’s too early or how I struggle at the weight and will get stopped again.
“I knew that weren’t going to happen. I always have confidence in myself and I knew I was going to beat Troy.”
He scored a crucial points decision on Saturday as they headlined the First Direct Bank Arena for the second time on the spin.
Simpson reflected on what the win means to him after righting the wrongs of his sole career defeat.
“I am feeling great, a bit tired, but I’m feeling a lot better than I did after the first fight, let’s just say that.”
Despite it appearing unlikely, he didn’t completely close the lid on a trilogy with ‘The Trojan’ in the near future, but admitted it would take a major offer to persuade him and his promotional outfit, BOXXER.
“If his promoters, Matchroom, want to come with a great offer for us, then I am all ears.

“What I am focusing on at the minute is pushing on and getting better things.”
Simpson has one of the biggest followings in Britain, largely due to his affiliation with Yorkshire football side Barnsley, whose colours he continues to don with pride.

He has headlined at his boyhood stadium twice now, with wins against Zak Chelli and Ivan Zucco respectively.
Simpson seemed keen on an Oakwell return but would love to up the stakes.

“It might be Hamzah Sheeraz at Oakwell. He [Canelo] doesn’t have the titles anymore.
“We could do Oakwell. I’d want to go back for a world title.
“Hamzah Sheeraz for a world title is the only fight that I would really want. I am enjoying the journey; the world title will come.”
Sheeraz currently holds the WBO super middleweight crown.
