Smith vs Puello preview: Dalton Smith makes the first defence of his WBC super lightweight crown in a homecoming clash against Alberto Puello in Sheffield. Check out the Smith vs Puello prediction below.
Smith takes on Puello at the Utilita Arena. Meanwhile, DAZN will broadcast the bout live worldwide.
The pair were scheduled to meet in June. However, the home favourite was forced to withdraw with an injury, therefore postponing Smith vs Puello.
The 29-year-old secured a maiden world title in a famous victory in Brooklyn in January. Smith blew away Subriel Matias to win the WBC crown he defends for the first time on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Puello is looking to become a three-time super lightweight champion. In addition to this, the Dominican is aiming to win back the WBC crown he lost in a majority decision defeat to the aforementioned Matias in July 2025.

Since then, the tricky southpaw bounced back with a fourth round TKO over Miguel Angel Bolano in July.
Smith vs Puello Prediction: It’s a tough first defence for Smith. Puello’s movement and angles could cause him problems early on. However, I expect him to retain his title on points.

Visioli-Hughes meet in co-main event
Giorgio Visioli takes a step-up in class on the Smith vs Puello undercard when he faces former world title challenger Maxi Hughes.
Visioli is already unbeaten in 11 professional bouts. The 23-year-old southpaw retained the English lightweight title with a dominant win over Levi Giles in March.
On the other hand, Hughes is coming towards the tail end of a memorable career.

However, the 36-year-old is coming off back-to-back defeats. He was retired in five rounds by Pierce O’Leary in March.
Prediction: Visioli should impress here in a dominant decision win.
Smith vs Puello Preview – Remaining Undercard
Elsewhere on the Smith vs Puello card, Shannon Ryan and Emma Dolan rematch for the British, Commonwealth and IBF Inter-Continental super flyweight titles.
Dolan dropped Ryan en route to a split decision victory in 2024. Since then, Dolan’s bid to win the IBF world title ended in a stoppage defeat, while Ryan has won four on the bounce.
Prediction: The momentum is with Ryan who can gain revenge.

Heavyweight hope Leo Atang should notch an early win over Jonathan Exequiel Vergara. While Ed Hardy should get the better of Diego Alberto Ruiz over the eight-round distance in their featherweight clash.
Rounding off the Smith vs Puello preview, Joe Hayden can see off Will Harrison on points at welterweight. Chris Mulunda can do the same against Harley Collison in their middleweight meeting.
Finally, cruiserweight prospect, Divine Omojor should outpoint Goran Kozul on his professional debut.
