This past Saturday light welterweight contender Thomas Dulorme (20-1, 14 KOs) inched closer to a world title shot with a 10-round unanimous decision against Hector Velazquez (55-20-3, 38 KOs), a fight that took place at the Coliseo Guillermo Angulo in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

Dulorme who is promoted by Team Puerto Rico, a collaboration of Gary Shaw Productions, DiBella Entertainment and Universal Promotions, will likely be in a title elimination bout in his next fight.  Rated WBC No. 6 and WBA No. 5, Dulorme feels he’s ready to step up.

“I feel really strong at 140 pounds,” said Dulorme. “I know my promoters are working hard to get me a title shot so I’m working hard to be prepared.  Velasquez gave me the rounds I needed to get me ready for the next level. I worked on a lot of techniques this past Saturday and I feel confident in my ability to capture my first world championship.  My goal is to bring a world title home to my countrymen in 2014.”

“Team Puerto Rico is working out the details of Dulorme’s next fight,” said co-promoter Gary Shaw. “Together Javier Bustillo, Lou DiBella and I are looking at the landscape of the light welterweight division to see who we can match him up with in a potential title elimination bout.  Dulorme’s a great fighter; one of the best Puerto Rico has to offer. We will have more details to announce shortly.”

“Dulorme looked sharp against Velasquez,” stated Javier Bustillo. “I know he’s ready to take his career to the next level. A big fight is looming for him.”
