Tyson Fury closed in on a long-awaited clash with Anthony Joshua by halting Mariusz Wach in seven rounds in Thailand.
Fury warmed up for a blockbuster showdown with Joshua, going through the motions before Wach was withdrawn following seven punishing rounds at the Max Muaythai Stadium in Pattaya on Friday.
‘The Gypsy King’ will face his long-time rival in November, provided Joshua beats Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
The 37-year-old was fighting for the first time since coming out of retirement to defeat Arslanbek Makhmudov in April and put on a clinic against Wach.
The two-time heavyweight world champion did as he pleased, consistently tagging his overmatched and veteran foe with pinpoint jabs and combinations, as the Pole struggled to deal with his accuracy and speed.

Fury overwhelmed Wach and the 46-year-old’s race was finally run before the beginning of the eighth, retiring on his stool to hand the Brit a 36th professional victory.
Fury called for a long overdue bout with ‘AJ’ post-fight, but admitted he was doubtful the 36-year-old would agree to face him, despite both men already signing to fight each other.
“I got through my test tonight,” he said.
“Let’s see [if Anthony Joshua] gets through his test.
“The biggest test of it all is how big his balls are.
“I think he’s a big s***house. In Tottenham in front of 70,000 people, he never had the guts to get in the ring and face me.
“Let’s see if he ever does. I’m not convinced.”
Fury claimed he would not attend Joshua’s showdown with Prenga in Jeddah.
