Harlem Eubank was floored three times in a decisive unanimous decision defeat to David Papot at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday.
Despite scoring a knockdown of his own in the seventh, Eubank was floored in the second and twice in the 10th, with Papot deservedly emerging victorious with scores of 113-111, 115-110, 115-109.
The visitor began on the back foot, circling away from Eubank who was able to connect to the body.
Papot, who gave newly-crowned IBF welterweight champion, Liam Paro a stern test in defeat last September, made the crucial breakthrough in the second, flooring Eubank (22-2, 9 KOs) with a hard left hand, as the pair exchanged.
The Frenchman continued to have success in the third, landing at least three counter left hands, with Eubank suffering a cut over his right eye.
The 35-year-old was timing the Brighton man continuously with his accurate left hand and was in a clear lead by the halfway mark.
Eubank, who overcame Josh Wagner in November, had his best round to date in the sixth, closing the gap and connecting with stiff combinations.
The 32-year-old had to eat a hard left hand, but responded with a ferocious left of his own in the seventh, which sent Papot crashing to the canvas.
After a tight eighth round, Papot regained a foothold in the ninth, finding the mark with several left hands, as Eubank struggled to evade his crafty rival.

Eubank had a disastrous 10th, dropped by a heavy left hand and despite bravely rising to his feet, but rather than tying up, Eubank traded with Papot who floored him again.
Blood was streaming down the 32-year-old’s face, but he held firm and made it to the end of the round amid the onslaught.
Papot (31-1-1, 5 KOs) appeared to take a breather in the 11th, but still managed to find the target, with Eubank clearly needing a knockout as the bout reached the final round.

Eubank bravely swung away in 12th round, but to no avail, as Papot contacted with further pinpoint lefts.
Scores of 113-111, 115-110, 115-109 saw the southpaw run out a clear winner and edge him closer to a rematch with Paro.
Eubank suffered a second defeat in three bouts, after losing by technical decision to Jack Catterall last July.
Smith defeats Griffiths
Codie Smith (10-0-1) remained undefeated with a unanimous decision win over Ryan Griffiths.
Griffiths (8-3-3) suffered a second straight defeat after being stopped in a bid for the vacant English super featherweight title in March.
Molloy stops Noakes
Kieran Molloy retained his IBF European welterweight title with an eighth round stoppage of Sean Noakes.
Molloy (15-0, 8 KOs) detonated a hard right hand which dropped Noakes (12-1, 5 KOs) heavily.
The Maidstone man rose to his feet, but referee Ron Kearney waved off the bout.

Remaining Undercard
Aaron Prospere (16-2, 4 KOs) survived a first round knockdown to overcome Mikey Sakyi (14-6, 5 KOs) by unanimous decision and win the English super lightweight title.
Heavyweight Matty Harris (11-1, 7 KOs) eased to a points victory over Ben Vickers (3-5-2, 1 KO).
In a battle of unbeaten welterweights, Jake Henty (10-0, 2 KOs) captured the vacant Southern Area crown by majority decision against previously unbeaten Finley James (9-1).

Featherweight prospect, JP O’Meara (8-0, 1 KO) was a points winner over Cesar Ignacio Paredes (18-38-1, 5 KO) and Jay Pitman (6-0) did the same against Enzo Bahiano Munoz (4-16-4, 2 KOs).
Welterweight prospect, Jamie Barrett (2-0, 1 KO) halted Stefan Vincent (2-48) in the opening round.
