Johnny Fisher admits he’s “perplexed” by Eddie Hearn’s comments following his move to Zuffa Boxing.
Fisher signed with Dana White’s Zuffa in a lucrative deal earlier this week after leaving Hearn’s Matchroom, who had promoted him since his professional debut in 2021.
‘The Romford Bull’ confirmed the offer, which is for one fight, was over six times what Hearn was prepared to give him.
The Matchroom Chairman told Pro Boxing Fans last month that he wasn’t going to match the deal and claimed the opposition Fisher is looking to face is at a lower level than he wanted to match him against.
“The biggest problem is the level of opposition that he wants to fight,” Hearn said.
“My offer was less than a sixth of what they offered, because no one wants to watch that kind of fight and no one wants to buy a ticket for that kind of fight.
“It’s a brilliant opportunity for Johnny Fisher and he needs to take that with both hands.
“If the Zuffa offer was half of what it was, I wouldn’t have matched.
“I’m pleased for Johnny honestly.
“He’s done it the right way, he’s come to see me, we’ve had a chat.
“Where he wanted to go was different to what I wanted to do with him.
“When they announce the opponent, you’ll see why I didn’t match.”

Fisher will headline a Zuffa card on September 26 at the Copper Box Arena.
The 27-year-old says no opponent has been finalised and admits he’s surprised by the comments from his former promoter.
“I was perplexed by that, because I don’t know who the opponent is,” he said on the Ariel Helwani Show.
“When he was trying to put me on the [Anthony] Joshua vs [Kristian] Prenga card, it’s going to be that level of guy that we spoke about.

“There were a couple of guys floating about that were a 15-2, 16-2 that sort of level guy.
“It won’t be a known name, but they can pose problems in themselves.”
