Analysis

Pacquiao is rightfully the favorite here, although you may be surprised at how slim the margin is. That’s because these two come into the rematch at much different places than when they first met. Pacquiao was brutally knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez, took a year off, and then returned with a win over the greatly overmatched Brandon Rios. Bradley, meanwhile, actually defeated Marquez in a tough battle, and survived a challenge from the currently high-flying Ruslan Provodnikov, a Pacquiao sparring-partner and current titlist at 140 lbs.

It’s a rare day when Pacquiao is only a 2-to-1 favorite in the fight. So you may want to take advantage of that, and count on Pacquiao to bring home another victory. Even if the gap has closed a bit between the two fighters, Pacquiao is still clearly faster and more highly skilled. Coming off the controversy from the first fight, it’s also likely he receives the benefit of the doubt on the scorecards should things end up closer than expected.

Of course, if you feel like getting some favorable betting numbers, then you can consider taking the under in the fight. Pacquiao has said repeatedly he’s done being nice in the ring, and that he wants to go out there and dominate this fight, leaving no questions. He seems fired up, and he could be looking to score a resounding stoppage victory. If you pair up a Pacquiao win with the under, that’s a nice little 1-2 parlay right there with a big payoff.

Bottom Line

The distance between Pacquiao and Bradley as fighters may have narrowed, but make no mistake that Pacquiao is still the superior specimen. Capitalizing on Pacquiao as “only” a 2-to-1 favorite seems like a smart idea.

Keep your eyes on those numbers though, there will most certainly be a lot of money coming in on Pacquiao’s side, widening that margin. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at at least 3-to-1 by fight night.
