Pressure will be on for Spence Jr – Garcia states ahead of IBF title fight

Brook vs Spence Jr

Former WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia believes Errol Spence Jr can beat Kell Brook on Saturday night, if able to handle the pressure in his first title bout.

Garcia, nicknamed ‘Swift’, sides with other American stars that ‘The Truth’ has the ability to overcome the IBF champion if ready and focused.

Garcia spoke to Sky Sports ahead of the title fight in Sheffield, UK and said, ” I think it is a good fight and I think it is a 50-50 fight.”

But Garcia is conscious of Brook being on home soil and believes that ‘Special K’ is in his prime.

” I think the person with the better game plan is going to win. But it is a lot of pressure to go into someone’s backyard like that. Spence has never faced a fighter in his prime before, like Brook.”

” It is definitely a test for him and a big step up in competition. If he is ready, he can do it. He just has to go in there and stay focused.”

Garcia also believes the welterweight division is the best in boxing and feels he is still one of the best.

“The welterweight division is the best division in boxing”, said Garcia. “I still feel like I am one of the best welterweights in the world even though I came up short.”
