John and Peter Fury still love each other despite their differences, according to Shane Fury, who hopes his father and uncle can repair their relationship following the controversy surrounding Peter’s conversation with Anthony Joshua.
Speaking on Boxing King Media’s Listen with Shane interview, Shane offered a personal assessment of the brothers’ rift, saying he remains close to both men and would welcome them putting their disagreements behind them.
The discussion followed questions about Joshua seeking advice from Peter, Tyson Fury’s uncle and former trainer, ahead of his December 11 meeting with Tyson in Cardiff.
However, Shane’s most heartfelt comments concerned the family relationship rather than what either heavyweight might gain inside the ring.
Shane says John and Peter Fury still love each other
Asked about his father’s reaction to the Joshua discussion, Shane acknowledged how difficult the situation was for him to discuss.
“I feel a bit emotional now,” he said, before adding: “Me dad loves his little brother.”
Shane then explained that his own relationship with both men gave him a different perspective on the public disagreements.
“I’ve got a good relationship with both of them and they both love each other. I can see it.”

The split has been public for years. In a May 2019 interview with Boxing News, John said he might never speak to Peter again, attributing the breakdown to boxing.
More recently, Boxing News reported John’s comments to Playbook Boxing, in which he criticised the possibility of Peter helping Joshua prepare to beat Tyson. John qualified those remarks by saying he was not claiming such involvement had happened.
Shane, meanwhile, said the decision for John and Peter Fury to reconnect belonged to the brothers themselves. He would welcome them seeing each other and sharing a meal.
“I would love it for them pair to get to do what they needed to do and put all the differences behind them because life is too short.”
John and Peter Fury rift: Shane draws a line on Joshua advice
Shane distinguished a trainer offering general guidance to a fighter from giving instructions specifically designed to defeat a family member.
He said even John would offer Joshua sincere advice if the heavyweight approached him, despite Joshua being Tyson’s opponent.
In Shane’s view, offering general advice was different from helping Joshua devise a way to beat Tyson.
Shane said he did not believe Peter would provide that kind of assistance. That was his assessment of his uncle’s loyalties, rather than evidence of what had been discussed privately.
Peter’s clarification, reported by Boxing News, said he had spoken to Joshua about his skill set two months earlier and would be happy to help after the fight.
Although Joshua has also reunited with Ben Davison, another former Tyson trainer, Shane’s remarks about Peter centred on family bonds surviving disagreements.
He did not announce a reconciliation or suggest one had been arranged. His hope was simply that John and Peter Fury could find a way back to each other.
