This fight marks the return to the ring for Pacquiao, who’s had an extended layoff of nearly one year since his last fight. That was, of course, when he suffered a brutal knockout defeat at the hands of his long-time rival Juan Manuel Marquez. So there’s some questions about Pacquiao right now and whether or not he’ll be able to return to his old self, or what kind of physical and mental condition he’ll be in.

Rios, on the other hand, is coming off the first loss of his career, and was able to land a huge opportunity against one of the sport’s biggest stars. He’ll be looking to test Pacquiao’s chin and confidence from the outset to see if he can get anything done.

Nevertheless, Pacquiao is the heavy favorite to win the fight. If he’s able to come out and look good against Rios, then he’s right back to where he wants to be, and he’ll be in line for any number of big, intriguing fights. If not, or if Rios pulls off the upset, then it could be retirement time for the Filipino icon.

The undercard features a rematch between Evgeny Gradovich and Billy Dib, a bout between heavyweights Andy Ruiz and Tor Hamer, and the third pro fight for Chinese Olympic legend Zou Shiming.

Pacquiao vs. Rios Fight Time

The Pacquiao-Rios pay-per-view will begin at 9pm Eastern, and all of the fights will be shown live, even though they’re taking place in Macau, China. That means they’re taking place in the middle of the morning, with an 11-hour time difference between the east coast and Macau, which is of course highly unusual for boxing!

With several undercard bouts, you can expect the Pacquiao vs. Rios fight time to actually be at about 11:30pm or midnight.
